Air14 Payerne airshow. what to expect at this huge event : 16 formations and 150 airplanes.
No less than 400.000 visitors, and possibly far more, will visit Payerne Air Base, during two weeekends in august and september. A different air display is organised each day, on august 30 and 31st, and also on september 6th and 7th weekend. 100 years of the Forces aériennes, 50 years of Patrouille Suisse, and 25 years of the PC‑7 TEAM will be celebrated. No less than 16 aerobatic formations will demonstrate at the airshows. Yet this air event is unusual for its logistics and infrastructure layouts such as a wooden tower built on the airbase, and other structures specially set up for the event. It is unique in the history of airshows in Europe, that train stations larger platforms have been set up on purpose at Cugy, and Corcelles stations near Payerne, by 70 soldiers. These are tasked to permit 25.000 visitors a day to take stretched trains to these stations, all during weekend days. Work was finished last night with projectors. Last time in the history, a rail track or structure had been built or modified on purpose for an air event, was during " La Grande Semaine de l'Aviation", at Reims, in August 1909. So it was 105 years from now.
